Ramadan Pop-Up: Event Styling & Furniture Rentals | Case Study

Project Summary

During Ramadan, we were tasked with styling a temporary pop-up restaurant created especially for Iftar and Suhoor. The project needed to reflect the spirit of the season while offering something a little different.

The brief called for a modern Arabic look, paired with soft lighting and natural materials. Warm wood tones set the stage, while gentle light from custom cube tables, table lamps, and Emily lanterns helped create a calming mood.

The space was divided into lounge and dining areas, each with carefully chosen furniture to support comfort and style. The setup was to make it feel special, memorable, and rooted in culture.

Objectives

The main goal of this project was to design a dining space that reflected the spirit of Ramadan in a modern and culturally grounded way. The client wanted to create an environment where guests could gather for Iftar and Suhoor in comfort, surrounded by a look and feel that spoke to tradition but with a fresh, updated touch.

A key part of the brief was to use natural materials, especially wood like Stockholm Round Table, as a central design element. This was important not only for the visual warmth it brings, but also for its connection to regional craft and heritage.

Lighting's goal is to create the right mood. With LED Cube dining tables, lamps, and Emily lanterns, the goal was to create a soft, friendly glow.

To bring it all together, the client requested premium furniture throughout, with both lounge and dining areas designed to feel refined yet relaxed.

Design Dilemma

The material needed to feel authentic and look refined while still being easy to install and remove within tight timeframes.

We also had multiple light sources to manage, including cube tables, Seoul Black Table Light by Villeroy & Boch, and lanterns, and it was essential to ensure hidden power sources and charging points. We had to strike the right balance so the space felt calm and cohesive without being overly bright or uneven.

Every piece needed to align with the overall design so the lounge and dining areas would feel connected. We wanted a smooth flow between the spaces without any sense of mismatch or crowding.

Solutions and Execution

The design was based on simplicity, flow, and material balance to bring the idea to life. The space was split into two main areas: the dining room and the lounge. Each had a purpose, but they both had the same look and feel, which helped make things easier for people as they moved around the area.

The lounge was adorned with Arno lounge sets, which made the space more comfortable while keeping it open and easygoing. The dining areas featured a mix of Portals, from 4-seaters to 8-seaters; you can rent them individually or in sets, including the bench. Their different sizes and shapes made the room feel more natural and less uniform.

Frederick chairs were set up in both places. Because they were simple and comfortable, they could be used for casual sitting and formal dining. The layout of the furniture was meant to make the room feel open and linked, making it easy to move around while still keeping each area clearly defined.

Results and Feedback

The space made a strong impression on guests. Many commented on how calm and friendly it felt as soon as they walked in.  A cosy and well-put-together mood was made possible by the warm lighting, wood textures, and carefully designed layout.

Functionally, the space worked well across both Iftar and Suhoor services. The flow between the lounge and dining areas made it easy for guests to relax, whether they were there for a full meal or a more casual get-together.

The project also added value to the brand behind the experience. By offering a high-end yet culturally grounded setting, the pop-up stood out during the Ramadan season. It showed how temporary spaces can still carry strong identity and meaning.

The end result was a space that lived up to expectations and also helped the brand become more strongly established within the premium dining space.

Do temporary Ramadan pop-ups really attract guests in the UAE?
